Challenge 13 is optional

Posted at ADSR Blog:

We have received several questions about this, and although it was not originally planned to be optional, we have changed our position due to a couple of factors.

Prior to the race, we said that the race was 6 weeks long, and that there would be up to 12 challenges in this post. Based on this, and the fact that we had only 12 challenge galleries made ready in the gallery would lead a reasonable person to expect that the race would be six weeks long with 12 challenges. So Challenge 13, hosted by Natural Designs is optional.

We sincerely apologize for the confusion wrought by this additional challenge. We were looking to add an additional element of fun, along with a surprise to the end of the race, but we realize that some plans had been made around the original 6 week expectation.

The Grand Prize drawing will be held after the conclusion of the checkin process for Challenge 13. We expect that the Grand Prize drawing will be held sometime during the week of February 22. Good luck!

Challenge #13

Whaaa Whoooo, one more challenge!!! You can find it here.
It’s Friday the 13th and you are about to embark on your 13th challenge. You have entered…. (queue scary music) the ADSR Zone!

For this challenge, you will work together as a team to create a single two-page layout, with each of you creating one half. Because you are each completing your own half of a two-page layout, there is no need to swap files and otherwise transfer large documents (yay!)

For completing this challenge, NDISB will give you this mega kit, called Diversity. And because diversity is intersecting with Valentines Day in the ADSR Zone, your challenge is to create a two-page layout about the diversity of love.

You must collaborate on your two-page layout and it must coordinate. Both the overall design and color scheme/kit must coordinate. Since you’ve already accessed 10 challenge prizes, you should already have a variety of matching collab kits to choose from. But if you feel the need to step outside that, you can peruse plenty of freebies from our host sites:

Samplers at NDISB

FREE*bies at Anita Stergiou Designs

Samplers at Elemental Scraps

Free Gifts from Inspiration Lane

Free Products from KB and Friends

Freebies from Oscraps

Free Treats from Pixel Gypsy Designs

Here are your assignments. It doesn't matter which team member does which assignment, but just make sure you have one of each when you're finished. Also be sure to put your journaling and your supply list in your description when you post your layout.

Left Page:
Use exactly 3 papers
1 must be in a shape
Use exactly 3 photos
1 must be B & W
Use exactly 3 flowers
Use exactly 2 strings/ ribbons
Use exactly 2 staples
You may use other embellishments as needed, as long as they are not flowers, strings, ribbons, staples, papers or photos.

Journal at least 5 sentences (must include the word love).

Right Page:
Use at least 4 papers
1 must be a print, all others must be plain
Use exactly 2 photos
Crop 1 photo into a shape
Use exactly 3 staples
Use only 1 flower
Use only 1 string/ ribbon
Use exactly 1 frame
Use exactly 1 alpha

journal at least 5 sentences (must include the words heart and diverse, or diversity).

You may not use any other embellishments or items on your page.

When uploading your layout, please do not place any description or journaling in the description box prior to hitting the submit button. When the second page comes up, please cut and paste the challenge into the description box, and itemize each paper or element used, according to the challenge. Our weary volunteers are going to need eye exams after this, and I don't know that we can afford to pay for all of them! Thanks for all of your help and we hope that you have enjoyed Season 4 of the Amazing Digi Scrapping Race!

Both layouts are due by midnight EST, Sunday February 22. Yes, that’s right, you have 9 full days to get this in!

DID YOU SEE THIS?

On the ADSR Blog?
Well, this IS surprising!

We've made it this far into the race, and nobody (as near as my grey matter can recall) has commented on the fact that there are thirteen "Host Sites" blinkies on the right hand side of the blog.

Hmmmmm... what could this mean!?

Challenge #12 LO

Missi and I used IM to have our conversation! I just copy and pasted everything we said.

Challenge #12

Well, this is it girls!! Our final challenge! You can find it at We Are Storytellers.
ADSR: CHALLENGE 12 -- {we are} storytellers

Racers, welcome to {we are} storytellers! You are certainly on the home stretch now! Congratulations to all those that are participating. We are sure you've preserved many memories along the road.

This challenge is an INTERSECTION -- Players must collaborate on one project.

Pretend you and your team mate are sitting on a porch, sipping a cup of tea and chatting. You stumble upon the topic of storytelling, your eyes light up and you begin talking about why storytelling is so important to each of you.

Please create a layout that expresses what storytelling means to each of you. Why did you each choose this form (scrapbooking in general and/or digital specifically) to tell your stories? Why is storytelling important? How do you feel about storytelling (is it a creative outlet, way to express your words, document your family's experiences, etc.) Why are you a storyteller? (You don't have to answer all these questions, consider them food for thought and to give you an idea as to what we are looking for.)

Your story must include:

{we are} storytellers word-art provided (see below) -- you may alter the word-art if you would like.
At least 1/2 of the layout must be journaling, more the better
At least 5 elements/embellishements
No more than 2 pieces of paper
Only 2 small photos, 1 of each of you, placed in the bottom right hand area of your page. IF you have a photo of the two of you together, you may use it and only required to have 1 photo. The bottom line, we want to see your beautiful faces!

By now you know the procedure, but it's always good to post all the details anyway (want to eliminate as much confusion as possible, right!

When you are finished with this challenge, you must upload it to the NDISB gallery. It is not required, but we would love to see your stories and welcome you to upload to our gallery -- we are an open gallery, so please share!

You will need to post a link to the NDISB gallery in your team thread at NDISB.

We must be able to read your journaling. Please make sure you copy and add it to the description in your credits.

You must have your challenge story done and uploaded by Midnight, Sunday , Feb. 15. (Please see the upper left hand corner of the ADSR Blog for a countdown and official time clock!)

Everyone who finishes this challenge on time and posts in the ADSR gallery and forum on time, will receive a coupon good for a kit of your choice in our boutique. (value of coupon $5.49) (Your prize will be awarded at NDISB.)

The winning team will each receive a $20 gift card to the {we are} storytellers boutique. An additional team will each win a $10 gift card each.

NOTE: IN ORDER FOR YOU TO SEE AND ACCESS THE DOWNLOAD LINK FOR THE WORD-ART, YOU MUST BE REGISTERED IN OUR FORUMS - -THANKS! (it just takes a minute to register)

Thanks for stopping by and please come back, we'd love to get to know you better! If you have a chance, please check out the great deals you'll find in our Page Turner Tuesday sale -- most everything in our shoppe is 25% off today!

Challenge #11

You can find it at Scrap Orchard

THE QUESTION IS:

You know the drill!

You can ask any one person (dead or alive; family, friend, famous or foe) one question. Who would it be and what would you ask them?

Hmmm… interesting. But let’s up the ante a bit, shall we? (if you are familiar with my “Bring It” Challenge, you know I’m not gonna let you get off that easy!!)

Here are some layout requirements:

1. Your layout can have only ONE photo. The photo must either be of the person to whom you are posing the question OR must represent the question you are asking.

2. You MUST include your question in your layout and your question can be the ONLY words/journaling on your layout. This means you have to tell us what your question is, but that’s it. You can’t explain the question or answer the question. I'm a big fan of “less is more”, so express yourself through just your question and your photo.

It’s that easy, right?

Challenge #10

I'm a little late posting this, beings my buddy here is "slacking" LOL!! O, she's going to slap me when she sees this!! hehehe. Anyway, here is the challenge over at Pixel Gypsy Designs. This one should be fun. I can't wait to go in and see what all your girls come up with here in our little group!!

Here is what it says:
ROADBLOCK!
It Takes Two: Interview your race partner (ask at least 5 questions) and create a layout (with a photo) based on that interview. The layout must contain supplies from two designers—no more, no less, and the color scheme must consist mainly of two colors. Minor accent colors are allowed, but 2 colors must stand out most prominently. Prize: $10 gift certificate good for any personal use products in the PGD store. We'd love to see your layouts! Link us up in this thread to your Roadblock layout from your ADSR gallery if you have time!

Challenge #9 Is Here:

You can find it HERE
By Kathryn Balint
Welcome, participants in the Amazing Digiscrapping Race, Season 4!
We at KB and Friends are delighted to be your host for the project challenge that begins today, Sunday, Feb. 1. Our challenge is one that each racer must complete.
This week’s challenge is: Generations.
Your scrapbook page completed for this challenge must include:
Photos of at least two generations of family members (the more generations, the better). KB and Friends specializes in vintage and retro-style digital scrapbooking kits, so we encourage you to dig out those old family photos and scan them, if you have any.
Lace.
Something metal, preferably, old metal.
At least one flower.
At least one vintage or retro-style element. It can be ephemera, an old book, an old clock, and so on.

Those of you who successfully complete the challenge will receive $5 worth of your choice of digital scrapbook products by me, Kathryn Balint, from the shoppe here at KB and Friends.
Racers, while you’re here, check out our new "free" category in our shoppe. We have more than a dozen kits that we have "retired" but, rather than put them away for good, we’ve decided to give them away at no charge in appreciation of the digital scrapbooking community’s support over the years. You must register as a user in the store to be able to download the free kits.

My LO For Challenge #8

My scrapping Idol is Sita slovackova at WaterLO Project. She has the most amazing kits and LO's.

Challenge #8

You can find it here!
Here is what it says:

Woooohoo! We are so excited to be a stop on the race! Here is your challenge info:

FAST FORWARD! This challenge is for both players, but the first team finished may skip the FEBRUARY 1 challenge if they wish!

A lot of us here at Oscraps are totally excited about the new season of American Idol...so we decided to make our own version...Scrapping Idol!

What is a Scrapping Idol, you ask? Scrapping Idol: a scrapper that amazes, inspires, awes, and/or makes you want to be able to scrap just like them.

We all have a scrapper that makes us drool over every single layout they crank out. So, your challenge begins with going to that person's gallery and choosing a layout to scraplift. Go on...you know you want to.

Ok, got a layout in mind? Here's what you have to do to complete this stop on ADSR:

1. Scraplift a layout from your the gallery of your Scrapping Idol.
Flip it, twist it, turn it, do whatever you gotta do. Just make sure your layout is inspired in some way by your idol's layout. If it isn't obvious how you scraplifted the layout, be sure to explain it in your credits...we don't those poor ADSR judges working too hard, do we?

2. Include a star somewhere on your layout.
The star can be a brush, a doodle, a sticker, an element, star paper, a star of ANY type! If you need a star, we have at least one in our freebie section of the store! Here's a link to our Freebie section!

3. Include the word DREAM somewhere on your layout.
It doesn't matter where or how, just make sure the word DREAM is somewhere on your layout. If it is the journaling, please include the journaling in your credits.

4. Please link up to the layout you lifted in your credits.

Yep...that's all, folks. I'm all about keeping things simple in 2009....so I thought I'd keep this challenge pretty simple! So go...be inspired by your Scrapping Idol...and create your own masterpiece for us all to drool over!

You are not required to post your layout here at Oscraps, but if you'd like us to oooh and ahhh over it here, you can post it in our ADSR #4 2009 Gallery.

The prize for this challenge is a coupon good for one of our Oscraps Collaboration Kits. ($6.00 maximum)

Enjoy...good luck!!

Challenge #6

You can find it here at Inspiration Lane

Welcome to Inspiration Lane, the next stop on the Amazing DigiScrap Race. This leg of the race is a ROAD BLOCK which means only 1 person can particpate. You must choose a layout from your partners gallery and scraplift it using the following direction:

Take your chosen layout from your partners gallery and flip it either horizontally or vertically.
Now take the layout and rotate it 45 degrees.
You must use this "new" version as the sketch for your layout.
When creating your layout you must use the EXACT same number of items that your partner used in the original layout, no more, no less.

Once you have completed this ROAD BLOCK post a your new layout with a link to the layout you scrap-lifted in the description in the official ADSR Gallery. Each team to complete the task before the deadline will receive an Inspiration Lane Signature Kit as well as a $2.00 off coupon to the store.

ETA: I just wanted to clarify a few things to hopefully make this easier for you all. When you tilt your layout 45 degrees you can tilt the elements on the page rather than the page itself. (hope that makes sense).

As for the number of items you need to use, we are just looking for the general number of items not specifically she used 3 buttons so I need to use 3 buttons.

Overall we just want you to be inspired, nothing more, nothing less. Everyone who participates gets the prize so relax and have fun. Remember it is your memory you are preserving, we want you to like your final page

Challenge #5

Your challenge for this stop is to create a layout that has no photos on it, but includes at least 3 different and separate photo frames.
You can find it here:
http://anitastergioudesigns.com/chatter/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=293&sid=4be8610b771e743a0d1175b2ff80c638

Sometimes we have special thoughts, feelings and/or memories about a person or place or event or pet or whatever, but no photos. OR, we could be missing someone who has passed on or something that is no longer in our lives and would dearly love to be able to express that on a page.

Because scrapbooking is all about recording our life journey and that of our family we can still create a page to record and preserve those special thoughts, feelings and/or memories with a little thought and planning and with the creative use of photo frames and journaling (although journaling is not required for this challenge).

You could even try doing a collage of elements and paper cut-outs within the photo frames to create a pictorial representation of your missing photos.

The prize for Racers completing this challenge is a $10.00 coupon to the AnitaStergiouDesigns.com Shoppe, valid until January 31 2009.

Challenge #3

ADSR - Stop #3 http://www.gottapixel.net/forum/showthread.php?p=370847#post370847

Congratulations, you have found the third challenge on the Amazing Digital Scrapbook Race journey. This is a regular stop, which means that both racers will need to do their own layout. Your challenge is simple. Find the first layout you created that is still uploaded to a gallery and scraplift it using techniques, trends and concepts that you have learned since you did that original layout.

You can...
You can use a different kit, elements, papers, brushes, shapes, etc.
You can add and remove elements, papers, etc.
You can use a different sized canvas.
You can move things around and change the overall sketch of the layout.
You can use the first layout uploaded to any gallery. This does not necessarily mean that it's the first layout you ever did. When you view your gallery, at whichever site it is at, it needs to be the first layout uploaded to that gallery. Example: This is my gallery at Gotta Pixel (I have other galleries on other sites). If you go to the very last page, and find the very last image, that is the first layout I uploaded to Gotta Pixel. That is the layout that needs to be used.

You can not...
You can not add additional photos to the layout.
You can not remove any photos from the layout.
You can not add additional text to the layout; journaling, alphas that spell out a word, word art, journaling. The only text that appears on the layout must be identical in verbiage to what it was originally. You can change the font, you can convert text into an alpha. If your layout previously used an alpha or wordart, you can convert that alpha/wordart to text or use a new alpha/wordart to spell the same thing. When you are done though, you must have the same words that were on the old layout, on the new layout.

My LO For Challenge One

Credits: Under The Xmas Tree by WaterLo Products
Our first Challenge was found this morning at Hummies World (http://www.hummiesworld.com/Forum/showthread.php?t=2353) and here are the instructions:

My challenge for you is to

1) Rip and tear a photo into three or more pieces! (that's a photo, not papers!)

2) Use journaling on your layout (something I stress is SO important).

This is a challenge to be completed by both racers. That's it! Anything else goes! You can have more than three tears. You can have more than one photo on your layout. You can have a lot or a few elements. You can use any theme. Just get a memory preserved as that is what scrapping is all about. You can use any method to rip your photos. You can use any products from anywhere to rip your photos. However, I do have some tutorials available as shown below. Let's all help each other learn. And here is my LO using Kris Meyers soon to be released kit Frosty Days! You can pick up her kit here this week!
